Mr. Tresnowski is a Managing Director and the General Counsel at Madison Dearborn Partners, LLC. Prior to joining MDP, Mr. Tresnowski was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, a firm he had been with from 1986 through 1999 and rejoined in August 2004 after having served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Allegiance Telecom Inc., a nationwide competitive local exchange carrier, from 1999 through 2004. Mr. Tresnowski is responsible for MDP's legal and regulatory matters.

While at Allegiance Telecom, Mr. Tresnowski represented the company in capital market transactions raising over $3 billion in capital and in thirteen acquisitions. He served as the lead executive officer overseeing the company’s debt restructuring efforts under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code and its eventual sale to XO Communications. His role in this project was featured in a cover story of the March 2003 issue of Corporate Counsel magazine.

Mr. Tresnowski was an attorney at Kirkland & Ellis for 14 years specializing in securities law, mergers and acquisitions and private equity financing. His practice ranged from representing private equity funds in venture capital initial funding transactions to representing Fortune 100 companies on multi-billion dollar transactions.

Mr. Tresnowski has lectured and written extensively on the corporate and securities law aspects of mergers and acquisitions. Since 1995, he has been a member of the faculty at the annual Practicing Law Institute seminar entitled "Acquiring or Selling the Privately Held Company," lecturing on drafting and negotiating acquisition agreements. From 1999 to 2001, he was been a member of the faculty at the Practicing Law Institute annual Securities Law Institute, the premier institute for securities lawyers.
