Biography
Founded in 1987, The Carlyle Group is a global diversified private equity firm with almost $19 billion in assets under management through 23 separate funds. These funds have been formed to pursue buyout, venture, real estate, high yield, distressed debt and mezzanine investments in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Japan. Bob joined Carlyle in 1999 as co-head of the firm's U.S. fundraising and investor relations activities. During his time with Carlyle, he has focused on raising private equity fund and coinvestment capital for the firm's various investment partnerships. In addition, he has been an active participant in product development, fund formation and marketing strategy for these same partnerships. Since 1999, Carlyle has raised more than $10 billion for 20 newly formed investment funds. Prior to joining Carlyle, Bob was a Vice President in the Private Equity Group at Merrill Lynch from 1994 to 1999. During his tenure at Merrill, he was responsible for raising private equity, real estate, hedge fund, coinvestment capital and direct private placements for almost 100 transactions. Select sponsor clients included Cinven, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Colony Capital, Exxel Group, GP Group, H.I.G. Capital Management, H&Q Asia Pacific, Industri Kapital, J.W. Childs Associates, KKR, Long Term Capital Management, Maverick Capital, Oak Hill Capital, Silver Lake Partners, Spectrum Equity, Starwood Capital, Warburg Pincus and Zell Equity.
