           Biography

Paul Bracken
Professor of Management and Professor of Political Science

Professor Bracken is a leading expert in the study of global competition and the strategic application of technology in business and defense. He has devoted his research and teaching to problems management faces as it deals with the rapidly changing competitive circumstances under conditions of intense uncertainty.

He teaches Business, Government, and Globalization which examines comparative capitalism and business restructuring in the U.S., East Asia, and Europe. He also teaches the core Yale School of Management course The Strategic Environment for Management; and Strategy, Technology, and War which examines technology and innovation landscapes in business and defense.

Professor Bracken is rated as the best teacher in Yale's executive education programs, and has taught in most parts of the world, including programs for Gazprom, Yukos, the Israeli Defense Force, and for many U.S. corporations and government agencies. He is a consultant to large corporations and private equity funds, as well as to various parts of the U.S. Government. One of his preferred educational approaches is to conduct business war games of complex problems.

A member of the Council on Foreign Relations he was a visiting professor at Beijing University. At Yale he is a Fellow of Silliman College and a member of the Elizabethan Club. Before joining the Yale faculty, Professor Bracken was on the senior staff of the Hudson Institute for ten years, where he directed the management consulting arm of the Institute.
