Biography
Nick Smirensky is Director of Alternative Investments with the New York State Common Retirement Fund, the second largest public pension fund in the United States. He is responsible for overseeing the Fund's private equity investments, including venture capital, corporate finance, and international. He sits on a number of private equity fund advisory boards. He also manages the Fund's in-state private equity investment program. Prior to his current position, he was director of New York's College Savings Program, a tax advantaged investment program sponsored by the State and managed by TIAA-CREF. He also oversaw the Office of the State Comptroller's financial analysis of the New York State budget. He holds the CFA designation and has a BA degree from Columbia College and an MA degree from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences of Columbia University.
