David Rubenstein

David M. Rubenstein, 55, is a co-founder and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group, a private equity firm based in Washington, D.C.

The Carlyle Group is one of the world’s largest private equity firms, managing approximately $20 billion through twenty-four private equity funds from twenty-four offices in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Japan.

Prior to co-founding Carlyle in 1987, Mr. Rubenstein practiced law in New York, with the firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison; served as Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy in the Carter Administration; and practiced law in Washington, D.C., with the firm of Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge.

Mr. Rubenstein is a magna cum laude graduate of Duke University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School.

Mr. Rubenstein is a member of the Trilateral Commission; the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Economics; the Board of Trustees of Johns Hopkins University; the Council on Foreign Relations; the Visiting Committee of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard; the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; and the Board of Advisors of J.P. Morgan Chase.

Mr. Rubenstein is married to Alice Rogoff Rubenstein, and they have three children.

Nigel Doughty is Chief Executive Officer of Doughty Hanson & Co., one of Europe's largest independent private equity fund managers. Operating Private Equity Funds for Europe and North America, a European Real Estate Fund and a European Technology Ventures Fund, Doughty Hanson & Co. has unrivalled breadth of expertise. With offices across Europe and in the United States, Doughty Hanson & Co. has over 50 investment professionals managing €5bn of fund commitments. Together with Richard Hanson, Mr. Doughty founded Doughty Hanson & Co. in 1984 following completion of his MBA at Cranfield University.

Mr. Doughty is chairman of the Private Equity Funds, European Real Estate Fund, and European Technology Ventures Fund. He is also Chairman of several companies, including, Dunlop Standard Aerospace and Umbro. Mr. Doughty is a Member of the World Economic Forum in Davos and the Cranfield School of Management Finance Advisory Panel. He has a long-standing interest in football, and is Chairman of Nottingham Forest.
