Biography
John Crocker is a Partner of Capital Z Investment Partners, a leading sponsor of alternative investment managers. Mr. Crocker is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and structuring Capital Z investments and monitoring sponsored funds. With over $2.25 billion of assets under management, Capital Z creates a GP/LP partnership, providing managers with significant, stable capital in return for minority ownership positions in the underlying businesses. Typically, Capital Z provides a foundation investment to support experienced teams forming new firms or growth capital to established, evolving managers. Founded in 1998, Capital Z invests globally with offices in New York, London and Hong Kong. Prior to joining Capital Z, Mr. Crocker was a partner in Credit Suisse First Boston’s Customized Fund Investment Group, and prior to that was responsible for building the alternative investments business fund of funds at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, which grew from less than $200 million in assets under management in 1996 to over $6 billion in 2000. Mr. Crocker has also held positions at Citigroup, Kidder Peabody, and Bain & Co. He graduated with honors from Harvard College, where he majored in economics, and received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Yale School of Management Private Equity Club
