Biography
Ed Kavounas is Co-Founder and President of Rockwood Capital Corporation, a real estate investment company with offices in Greenwich, CT and San Francisco, CA which has been investing equity capital on behalf of pension funds, endowments, foundations and high net worth individuals since 1995. Rockwood invests in key U.S. markets in partnership with talented local entrepreneurs in office, retail, residential, hotel and mixed-use projects. Since 1980, Rockwood and its predecessor company have invested on behalf of their investors, over $1.3 billion in equity in over $4.0 billion in real estate through five commingled funds and various special purpose partnerships. At present, Rockwood is completing its investment program for Rockwood Capital Real Estate Partners Fund V, a $460 million private equity commingled value added fund. From 1980 until 1995, Mr. Kavounas was a partner in Rockwood’s predecessor, an advisory firm, which invested on behalf of a small group of international very high net worth families. From 1973 to 1980, Mr. Kavounas held senior management positions with Mobil Land Development Corporation, Mobil Corporation’s real estate group. Prior to joining Mobil, Mr. Kavounas practiced law in California. Mr. Kavounas has a B.A. degree from Cornell University and a J.D. from Fordham Law School. He is a member of the Bars of New York and California, the New York Real Estate Board, Pension Real Estate Association, and the Urban Land Institute. Yale School of Management Private Equity Club
